Alberta Craft Gallery Level 2 cSPACE

Join the Alberta Craft Gallery and Oxana Lyashenko to create your own beautiful Temari Ball to keep for yourself or give as a gift.

During this beginner class led by Calgary-based fibre artist Oxana Lyashenko, you will learn how to design and wrap your own treasure.

Temari ball-making is a traditional Japanese art with a long history; they were used, for instance, for sports and as children’s toys having spiritual value and healing power. Today, Temari are created for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and are valued as objects full of meaning and good wishes.

All materials are included, however, students can bring their own tools if they wish. We will use middle sized needles, pins, and scissors.
