Citizen Law #34 – Projection leads to judgement, which leads to assumption, which leads to a completely manufactured reality. There is only one reality, and that is the one we program.
Dancing Monkey Laboratoriesis bringing to the stage and screen Sublimity – A LOVE SUPREME, an innovative live performance and live stream event from March 7 to March 11, 2023.
In association with Tim Nguyen Co. and studio.unit2, and directed by Mike Czuba and Melissa Tuplin, Sublimity – A LOVE SUPREME is an interdisciplinary show that will be performed in a live and live-streamed hybrid with multiple cameras. Audiences can experience the show in-house at the cSPACE King Edward in Calgary and at home via web stream, creating two unique performances simultaneously.
The play takes place in an imagined reality, where citizens are separated into two classes. This world is tightly controlled, and the citizens no longer question how things are and simply accept that this is how it is. The society is guided by 34 ‘Citizen Laws’ that were written in a time no one remembers. Then, something shifts.
March 7 – 11, 2023, 7:30pm MT
Live Performance Tickets – $15
Each ticket to the in-person show at cSpace also comes with access to the livestream on another evening. Experience the show from multiple perspectives, and you might discover something new about this reality…
Livestream tickets – $5
The livestream link will only be available for the duration of the performance beginning at 7:30pm MT. This is not an on-demand webcast.
This production is approximately one hour long.
We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Now Fund in producing this work.

DOT is the story of an ever-evolving spec through the molecular to the galactic.
A surrealist and wordless-tale that inhabits all levels of micro and mega objects, throughout 2D and 3D worlds – told with manipulated liquids, holes, geometric shapes, reflections, shadow, sticks, bags and wind. It is an experience that encapsulates the vast shades within our shared humanity, from our delightfulness to cantankerousness viewed from the distance of the stars.
Everything and Anything is either only an Explosion or a Collapse Yet everything at large remains unchangeable And yet still completely unpredictable.

The Stories We
WriteRight has been percolating since 2017 when my mother had a stroke and was diagnosed with vascular dementia. Since then, my days have been focussed on learning as much as I can about what I’m most passionate about as we never know what is coming our way in this Great Mystery of Life. — Jen Bain.
This show will present a story of walking away from self doubt using self-reflection, honesty and silliness as a guide. Jen Bain hopes her journey will spark new chapter ideas in the lives of the viewers and to live for today.

Artist Bio – Corinne Cowell
I have always been interested in narratives and they are a recurring theme in my work. Some of the areas I’ve been interested in are about personal memories as well as identity and place.
My current work continues my interest in narrative specifically as it relates to the environment and our place within it as well as our transitions through it. I work in multiple media and image sets simultaneously and my current directions include our intimate experience in wild spaces, fleeting moments in relation to time of day, year and era as well as interactions with the natural world.
I specifically like the textural and sculptural aspect of the needle felt work as it simulates the undulations and dimensional aspects of the images I’m creating. They become more of a living and tactile environment, encouraging the viewer to touch and reminisce.
I also use wet and needle felting, acrylic painting, and mixed media collage as a base for story telling. I greatly enjoy exploring new media and it’s interplay with the subject because I want the materials to be integral and supportive of the stories I’m trying to portray. I am also intrigued by the textural and mixed media potential of the materials I use on both a visual and emotive level. The materials I use can range from raw wool, paint, photo transfer, hand made and printed papers to acrylic paint, hand stitching and horse hair.

It’s an emotional and intellectual ride through faith, power, and mega-church politics as Pastor Paul abruptly and radically changes theological direction on a hot-button issue. Events quickly snowball in stunning exchanges full of humanity, complexity, and the astounding ability to keep audiences guessing what happens next. Are beliefs a thing to hold in spite of the havoc they wreak? Or is there room for more perspectives without unsettling our own?
“Church splits are Hell. This play about one isn’t.” – Christianity Today
“This is that rare play about religion that both believers and non=believers can embrace.” – Charles McNulty, L.A. Times
“Both epic and intimate, the melodic drama asks legitimately difficult questions about belief and behavior.” – The Guardian
